Ink Blot Girls

I've seen so many artists do pin-up girls yet I've never tried any of my own. So here are my first attempts:

I did these as an excuse to try out these packets of Chinese paper that my brother bought in Chinatown. The first one is done on calligraphy paper, which holds ink very well. But the rest are done on some kind of tissue-like paper...The ink just runs strait through them, but I really like the blotchy effect.

I added some color in Photoshop:

Hey! I just found your blog, these pinups are sweeeet. They're a great compliment to the work you have here already.

Cheers,

Wow Hanna! These kick ass!

Did you use reference, or pull these outta your butt (hence the amorphous shapes surrounding the women)? Beautiful shapes and lines and expressions and faces and boobs!

Thanks guys!

I've already done a few more of these and I plan on making a whole series and hopefully exhibiting/selling them somewhere. Can anyone recommend some good venues for something like that?
I might ask the Red Poppy Art House in the mission. I recently met some of the people who run that space.

Rosie, I did "pull these outta my butt", but I think all those quick studies workshops with Cris Canga are finally paying off! ;)

DAMN YOU HANNA!

This is my territory! Vengeance! I demand vengeance! where the hell is Keyser Soze when you need him?

oh well.....

Great work, love the line quality, and the simplicity of color.

Am I going to have to live off your couch just to stop you and sabotage your work?.....sigh....

You should definitely try to do something with these. The first thing I though when I saw them was: "THAT's the kind of thing I'd like to see on my walls". :)

They are simply beautiful.
